Busy and Smitten

It’s been a busy week. Although, it is Wednesday this will not be an “Adventure Wednesday” post. I hope to be back up and running with that segment next week.

Tonight, I would just like to do a quick weekly recap and then I am off to bed.

The last couple weeks have been busy as my winter break brought itself to a close. So here is a brief day by day recap; and as you will see a couple exciting things did happen to make my last week of freedom enjoyable.

Monday 1/21 – Work (nothing important)…

Tuesday 1/22 – My last official day of freedom. I spent the day running errands and getting caught up on household chores. Nothing to exciting. Lowe did come over for dinner and gossip though, so that was a fun.

Wednesday 1/23 – Work and SKIRTS. I think I mentioned in a few emails back about this SKIRTS event that my new friend Pat Bailey of love.lust.butterflies puts on once a month. It’s a mid month mixer type get together for her girlfriends. We all wear skirts and sip cocktails while snaking and catching up on life. It has been a really great way to network as well as someone new shows up every month. Here’s a fun photo booth picture (from and Iphone app) that we took at the end of the night.

I also started chatting with this really nice guy, I met him online (blog post regarding that to come) as well as I stayed at my friend/co-workers place as we had work training for the next couple of days in Marin and she lives out in that area and drives (no need for a car in SF).

Thursday 1/24 – Work training from 8:30 am till 5:00pm and then a work training participants get together type thingy (which was kind of boring).  I ended the night at my friends house were we shared a bottle of wine and I continued chatting with Mr. (as we shall call him for now) we set our first date for Saturday through the mix of all are chatting, awe I was so excited! Our chemistry via text was pretty amazing for never having met.

Friday 1/25 – Another long day of work training. Once work training was over I went straight home to a couple glasses of wine, a bath and True Blood.  The majority of this night was also spent chatting with Mr.  (Still hadn’t met him and was already completely smitten with him)

Saturday 1/26 – A very long day at work, that drug on and on. My insides were turning inside out as I was so nervous about my date that evening with Mr.

I convinced the guys to let me off about an hour early so I could go shopping for a new outfit because I wanted to look my best. Here is what I wore for our first date/blind date (courtesy of H&M).

The date was amazing. We met at a bar in Nob Hill around 7:15 and before we knew it, it was 11:30. We found ourselves just lost in conversation the chemistry/connection was amazing between us. Blog post to follow on this with a bit more detail!

Sunday 1/27 – Another day at work

Monday 1/28 – Another dragging day at work and my second date with Mr.  We did dinner and a movie at his place. So so so smitten.. I can’t wait to tell y’all more about him, but for now  just these little teasers.

Tuesday 1/29 – My first day of school. It was a long one but at least all of my classes seem to be pretty interesting.

So there you have it, my week in review. I’m sorry this is a half fast post tonight (you know this is normally not me) but I just finished up my homework and am so ready to crawl into bed. I just really wanted to get a post up, because if I didn’t I wouldn’t get one up at all this week.

I will do my best to try and get a post up this weekend (maybe I’ll let you all in on the online metting of Mr. thing). But if I don’t get back to you all before next week, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and that you are all supporting me on Sunday in cheering on the 49ers as they embark on their final leg of the Quest for six!

Rolling Rolling Rollen

It’s time for an Adventure Wednesday’s post and this week I am posting about something I did a couple of weeks back, FINALLY!

So a few weeks ago I went on my first real nice length bike ride since moving to San Francisco. I rode my bike from downtown to Mill Valley and pack which means I crossed the Golden Gate Bridge (#80 on my List of 101 and things in 1001 days). This also helped start out my #23, which is to ride 1000 miles, the total ride was 26.4 miles.

The ride was beautiful but pretty cold. Riding across the bridge was a challenge as I had never done it before and maneuvering through tourist who can’t see you coming is a bit of work. However, I made it through with only one close call and that was with another cyclist who was coming from the opposite direction and wasn’t moving for anyone. Riding through Sausalito was so much fun, part of the ride is right along the coast and then through a small little tourist town. I wish I would have stopped for pictures in that area. The hill out of Sausalito back to the bridge not so much fun (I hate hills FYI) but I made it without stopping and walking (a huge feet for me).

I can’t wait to do the ride again and I think on every once in a while on a Thursday afternoon, I’ll actually get to ride as I get out of class at 2 and can squeeze in a late afternoon ride as the weather starts heating back up. Here are some pictures from my adventure across the Golden Gate by bike.

Living my Life on the Edge

I have always lived my life with the mottos “No Regrets”, “You Only Live Once”, “Take Chances”, and I still do and think everyone should because mottos like this keep your life interesting and fun. However, this past weekend I had two experiences that made me think about my mottos. I had to ask myself, “Do I really believe in living my life on the edge and using these mottos to guide me through my life?” and to tell myself “Whoa girl slow it down a bit!” To say the least the weekend was eventful even when 85% of it was spent at work.

Let me fill you in on what happened:

*Saturday nights story will stay fairly brief to honor the others who were in this experience with me.

Saturday night: We had our staff holiday party (finally) at a Mexican restaurant in Sausalito. Dinner was pretty good and we all enjoyed quite the bit of drinking. Which leads me to my story, there were 5 of us carpooling together and the person who was supposed to be driving us home had a few too many drinks and come time to leave we had all agreed that I would drive. I had quit drinking a few hours back and turned to water and coffee therefore, we felt I was the best to drive. However, when getting to the car the original driver hopped in the front seat rearing to go.  When telling him and his gf I was good to drive, they both were like “no its cool ___ is good”, I’m like “no really, I should drive”, they’re again saying “no worries I’m/___ is good.” Well shit, I think and crawl in the back seat with the other two people with us.

The drive out of Sausalito is white-knuckle wrenching; the driver is weaving back and forth, and not really paying attention. His gf at this point has now realized he’s really not okay to drive and is trying to talk him through to get him to focus on the road and his driving (it wasn’t really helping). With that, it was too late we were already driving on the Golden Gate Bridge and his driving was getting worse. At one point the front tire hit the side barrier and his gf moved the wheel to the left just in time to stop us from crashing (my life literally started to flash before my eyes). After that and after gettingthrough the tollbooth safely we were able to convince the driver to pull over so I could drive.  Lets just say once I was driving the tension in the car went down by three-fold.

– I really thought I was going to die Saturday night. This is one experience I can say I do regret. I regret not listening to my original gut feeling to call a cab (even though it was going to cost a butt load) to get myself home safely.  I am thankful though that all five of us in the car made it home safely. To say the least seeing the driver at work the next day was a little interesting (he didn’t remember much of the night). Below is a picture of the staff and the plus ones at the party!

*Sunday’s story is a little less life threatening, but was still a tad bit scary for me.

Sunday Morning: before heading to work I ran upstairs to the roof to look and see if there were already dishes installed (as I was getting cable installed yesterday). I needed to know if Direct TV could install a dish basically. Anyways the door to the roof doesn’t look as though it locks at all from the inside there is no lock on the handle or even a dead bolt lock, so I bounced outside to take a stroll around the roof. Well guess what, the door locks from the outside! That’s right, I locked myself on the roof at 10:00 in the morning. 1. It was freezing outside, 2. I didn’t have my cell phone and 3. None of my apartment keys worked on the lock.  Therefore, I was stuck on my roof pounding on the door hoping someone would hear me and come unlock the door, I finally leaned over the edge down into the well of windows for the inside apartments and shouted “If you can hear me I am locked up on the roof, please help!” about five minutes later one of the guys in the building came and let me out. What a way to start my morning.

So to say the least I had to slow it down a bit and reflect on my weekend. Why did these things happen to me? Is it karma coming back around to me? Who really knows, all I can say is I am thankful that I lived through Saturday night and that I am not still locked on the roof. Although the view from the roof is rather nice!

Saturday 11/12 – The longest day at work…every week…I hate it. To top it off it was the 1st playoff game of the season and I didn’t get to spend it with my social group. To make all things well though, we had our staff holiday party (finally!) and a few margaritas in and ESPN updates to my phone with a win from the Niners (ya buddy!), I had a pretty good night. Although I did almost die. See my Adventure Wednesday post tomorrow regarding “Living my life on the Edge” to read about that experience.

Sunday 11/13 – Work

Monday 11/14 – Work and the 2nd episode of the Bachelor Lordy Lordy he is really cute.  Start the below video at 0:26!

And last but not least Today Tuesday 1/15 – Day OFF YAY!!! – Went for a run up hill for about half a mile for a trip to Trader Joes, had cable installed -now I can keep up on all my shows, sports and the news- I had an on the spot interview at a restaurant (i’m looking for a move in my work life) the interview went rather well, so I treated myself to a nice dinner.

Adventure Wednesday's

Another adventure in 2013

As I brought in the new I decided upon no New Years resolutions but instead adventures.  I started the 101 things in 1001 days which you can check out here, but this year I have also decided to embark in a fun filled adventure called Charm Skool.  I was recently introduced to Pat Bailey of Love.Lust.Butterflies from a co-worker and after attending one of her very fun Skirts mid-month mixers, I learned about one of her big adventures for 2013.

Pat Bailey presents “Charm Skool: lady swagger from a to z” for ladies in the Bay Area. So if your in the bay area listen up or should I say read ahead ladies!

“The series is made up of special  private events where guests will be given VIP access and treatment while learning a special skill aught by a local professional  And, of course, the second part of each even is a little bit of mingle time where we will enjoy cocktails, bubbles and ummies together. Charm Skool are like no other! Expect fun snail mail care packages, goodie bags filled to the brim, special access and introductions to pros and places around the city and lots of other surprises along the way.” – Pat Bailey

Doesn’t this just sound like a blast. Pat has so many fun classes lined up for the year. I have already signed up for Yoga, Floral Design, Pole Dancing, Cupcakes and Bubbles, SF Fashion Week, and Pilates. I am so excited to embark on this adventure with Pat in 2013.

To learn more about Pat Bailey’s Charm School adventure scoot on over to her blog and check it out. If you are in the San Francisco/Bay Aera and are interested you can contact Pat directly. I’d love to see you all there.

Happy Wednesday –

101 in 1001

The Challenge:

Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.  I’m starting as of January 1st, 2013 and ending on September 28th, 2015.

The Criteria:

Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

Why 1001 Days?

Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple challenges such as New Year’s resolutions or a ‘Bucket List.’ The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips, study semesters, or outdoor activities.

The Key:

Italicized items are goals currently in progress, while bolded items are those that have been completed.
